June Disabled Theatre Workshop event
When? Thursday June 22nd, 7pm – 8:30pm
Where? Gerry’s Studio, directly opposite Theatre Royal Stratford East
What? A disability arts debate, the motion:
Disability Arts should die.
Is Disability Art a doomed cul-de-sac in the history of the arts that will be abandoned because it oppresses disabled people? Or does it deserve its own space, a movement that empowers rather than ghetto-ises disabled artists?
Join Penny Pepper and Simon Startin at this debate. Penny will be fighting the disability arts corner, and Simon will play devil’s advocate and suggest that disability arts must die…
Come and listen to the arguments, then have your say, with time afterwards to cool off with a drink in Gerry’s Bar. Please email Kate on firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve your free place and include your access requirements, e.g. BSL interpretation.
Access needs will be met on request
