Redefining sound art, challenging assumptions of women and technology and putting female-identifying voices to the front, we launch our next Main Gallery exhibition, Sounds Like Her, curated by Christine Eyene.

The project brings together seven women artists from diverse cultures, each exploring sound as a medium or subject matter: Ain Bailey, Sonia Boyce MBE RA, Linda O’Keeffe, Elsa M’bala, Madeleine Mbida, Magda Stawarska-Beavan and Christine Sun Kim.

7th and 10th November 10.30am – 2.30pm: Join Jeanne Roberts from MySight Nottingham for a specialist gallery verbal imaging tour and creative workshop suitable for blind and visually impaired visitors. Jeanne will use verbal descriptions to help participants build a rich understanding of the work in our galleries. The tour will be followed by a specialist creative workshop inspired by the exhibition’s use of sound and music. Please click on this link for booking information

15th November 6pm – 7.30pm: BSL Gallery Tour presented in partnership with Nottinghamshire Deaf Society. Derby based artist, Pierce Starre will explore the exhibition’s key themes through BSL, with a special focus on the work of deaf artist Christine Sun Kim, whose work explores her experience of sound.
