The Camden Arts Centre is looking for an experienced Programme Curator; Public Programmes. The primary function of this post is to coordinate and deliver a fully integrated programme of public talks, events and projects in consultation with the Director, Programme Team and Gallery Manager. Our public programme includes talks, performances, live events and film screenings and offers audiences a range of entry points into the ideas and issues presented in the exhibitions, with the aim to break down barriers and gain insight into artists work. We take into account current contemporary art practices, and discourse taking place nationally and internationally around broader societal concerns. In addition, the post holder will work with the Programme Curator; Residencies and the Education Team to co-ordinate the delivery of open studios, education projects or events which have a focus on general visitors.
A key priority for the Centre is to broaden and diversify audiences. This will include a focus on programming events targeted at new groups or audiences currently under-represented at the Centre; inviting a diverse range of speakers and artists; and developing and expanding our partnership work off-site and across London, taking projects and programmes out of the building. We also have a focus on nurturing our local audiences, through our annual Summer Social event and increased use of our café and garden spaces.
The successful candidate will have at least two years’ experience of programming and coordination of public programme and artist-led events, and of working with a variety of external partners, artists and freelance professionals. You will be highly organised and an excellent communicator, have a strong understanding of contemporary art, art history and current issues pertinent to the sector, and be ambitious about the breadth and diversity of programming in order to connect new audiences to the work of Camden Arts Centre.
