Southbank Centre is the place to be this summer with a huge programme of events, many of which are free to enjoy.
The Festival Volunteer role:
Giving information and directions, handing out leaflets, maps and flyers
Getting to know the festival programme and letting visitors know what is happening on site
Assisting visitors in getting the most out of their time at Southbank Centre
Helping the public engage with Southbank Centre’s free events and activities

The support you’ll give as a volunteer is of huge benefit to your community and in turn, we aim to make sure that you enjoy a valuable and memorable experience at Southbank Centre.
Who we’re looking for:
Polite and friendly people who are over the age of 18
An interest in celebrating difference and working with a diverse group of people
A desire to get involved in activities at Southbank Centre
It would be great if you have (or want to improve) some of the following skills:
Confidence in speaking with members of the public
The ability to work as part of a team and be flexible
Ability to stay calm under pressure and deal with a very hectic and busy site

Important information about volunteering at Southbank Centre
The festival is packed full of events and projects, to make scheduling as manageable as possible we ask volunteers to commit to at least three shifts during the festival.
There will be Festival Volunteer shifts available each weekend day from Saturday 22nd July – Sunday 27th August.
There will be two shifts available each day, from 11-14:00 and 14:15-17:15. You will be asked to complete an availability form and sent a rota of your shifts for the festival.
Occasionally shift times might change or extra shifts may become available at other times, but you will always be given lots of notice so you can decide if you would like to volunteer.
Southbank Centre festivals are packed full of events and projects, to make scheduling as manageable as possible we ask volunteers to commit to at least three shifts during the festival.
Uniform will be provided and travel expenses reimbursed up to the cost of an off-peak Zone 1 – 6 travelcard per day.
Volunteers are able to bring a support worker/personal assistant if required to the selection and training sessions and to their volunteer shifts. Travel expenses for support workers/personal assistants can also be reimbursed up to the cost of an off-peak Zone 1 – 6 travelcard per day.
In order to be offered shifts you will need to attend one selection session. Once you are a Southbank Centre Festival Volunteer, you will need to attend festival-specific training sessions in order to volunteer for each festival.
Selection Sessions will be held on Thursday 29th June.
Training Sessions will be held on Friday 14th July.
