no_labels.jpg400x320DAO is committed to the Social Model of Disability, which understands ‘disability’ as a role and an expression of ‘oppression’, rather than as a statement about “having an impairment.”

The Disability Arts Movement has its roots in the disability activism, founded on a Social Model understanding, empowering disabled people to make a stand against discrimination and marginalisation.

As part of an ongoing project to provide research material for students DAO has published the following series of academic research and essays, which illustrate Disabled People’s struggle.
