You’ll remember me mentioning in an earlier Blog that the government have set a target for one million disabled people to be in employment by 2027. Also, because of this we’ll then have “fulfilled and meaningful lives” (sic).
Well, a press release issued by the DWP informs us that to mark progress on their inclusive employment policy, Work and Pensions Secretary of State Thérèse Coffey visited Heathrow Airport recently to see and hear about its work to improve its disability employment practices amongst their 6,800-strong workforce.
It doesn’t actually tell us how many disabled staff they now employ, or what type of work they do there, but having seen one of disabled cartoonist Stephen Lee Hodgkin’s ideas in his recent DAO blog, my mind began to wander down his ‘Human Lights Act’ creation.
Human lights, Heathrow airport … well, you can see where my thinking took me!
