Initial; A Father’s Gifts

The book of instructions I use for this series suggests I should remember the first gift I bought for Father’s Day. Its strange to think I can barely remember a gift I gave my dad. On my next birthday I’ll be one year short of 40 years without him. Today dad gets deified.

A Father’s Gifts

Beware of the Bull
I sometimes speak
Daddy’s little Lamb
I rarely bleat

Woodbines, Number 6
Dad Likes his fags
A shiney brass
Some soldiers tags

To sing his song
In baritone
Breaks his quiet nature
Set like hard stone

His goodness, His pride
His hidden frown
Will seep inside
And become my own
