Serpentine Gallery: Family Weekend: culture in common, London

Price: This event is free, drop-in and suitable for families with children of all ages.

Children and their families are invited to form a collective based on shared beliefs, hobbies and causes. Through the workshop families can design a manifesto, use a risograph printer to create membership stickers and distribute their materials to prospective members. The Family Weekend references Rabbits Road Press, a community Risograph print studio and publishing press founded and run by OOMK. Rabbits Road Press aims to bring together artists, designers, writers and local people to explore how we can build a community through culture.

The Family Weekend is programmed in parallel with Albert Oehlen and Luchita Hurtado: I Live I Die I Will Be Reborn.

OOMK are the 2019 Serpentine Family Artists-in-Residence. Over the course of the year, OOMK will develop _____ in common, a series of workshops bringing together children and adults to explore the idea of the commons – the cultural and natural resources that can be used by all members of society. Through their residency they aim to support and sustain a renewed responsibility for each other and the natural world.

The Serpentine Galleries have signed up to the Family Arts Standards. We welcome families and to help you enjoy your experience we are committed to ensuring we meet these Standards. For more information on visiting the Serpentine Galleries with your family.
