A photo of a white woman floating underwater, wearing a white dress. They are left side-facing, with their head looking up towards the surface, their arms raised above their head with their back arched. At the top of the image, their reflection is shown on the surface of the water. The background of the image is a deep blue. At the bottom of the image, text reads the title of the piece, with the screening information details.

A collaborative film with Theatre for Life and Southampton Children’s Hospital, authentic voices and shared storytelling on the truths behind hidden disabilities and mental health.

Emerge is a community film sharing universal themes and hidden stories both past and present, exploring how the human spirit triumphs in the face of adversity. An insightful and informative look into modern day perspectives contrasted against stories of a community dealing with the aftermath of the Titanic tragedy in 1912. Can the pain of yesterday, become the strength of today…?

In the depths of the water, I finally learnt that my breath was far stronger and within me lay the courage to emerge once more again.

The film is suitable for 14-25 year olds only. Mild trigger warning – Themes around mental health, hidden disabilities, death and grieving.

We have the mental health charity, Solent Mind on standby to support with any additional guidance and signposting.
