Wellcome Collection presents Festival of Minds and Bodies, London

Price: Free

Sophie Woolley, deaf cyborg, peers out from behind a mirror. The mirror reflects Francesca, who is the drag queen host of Girl Meets Boy: Unravelled. Francesca is in a gold dress with one arm raised. Next to this mirror is Jess Thom, from Touretteshero, in her wheelchair, looking excited with arms up and legs out stretched. Next to her is another mirror, with a reflection of Francis from BLINK Dance. Behind this mirror is Vicki from BLINK Dance, with her arms in the air and looking upward. There is a mirror on the floor with a reflection of Sophie Woolley.

Come and celebrate minds and bodies in all their different forms at a festival inspired by our new ‘Being Human‘ exhibition. This weekend of events includes performances, conversations, workshops and films. Join artists, activists and researchers to challenge assumptions about what’s ‘normal’ and what we value.

All events will have step-free access and most events will be relaxed, which means that if you need to, you are welcome to move around and make noise at any time. Resting points will be available throughout the building and there will be a Chill-Out Room for those wanting a break from the festivities.

Step-free access for all events, with accessible toilets, including a Changing Places toilet. Resting spots and a chill-out room available. Fixed induction loops in some areas, portable loops can be reserved in advance. Many events have BSL interpretation, some will have open captions, speech-to-text, audio description. See website for individual event details.
