DYSPLA : Call for Submissions, Storymakers’ Residency 2020

We are DYSPLA, the only London-based production company to propagate the Neurodivergent Creatives and their Aesthetic. We are especially committed to promoting the creative benefits of Dyslexic writers, which we do with funding and support from the Arts Council England. We focus on developing the stories of established writers as well as new storymakers.

We are currently accepting pitch ideas for our Storymakers’ Residency 2020.

DYSPLA Storymakers Residency is a 12-month long scriptwriting program committed to ensuring writers have a supportive environment where they can create and finish their screenplays which are then shared with and presented in front of the Industry at the Table Read. The programme is funded by Arts Council England.

The residency will be tailored to each resident and will take place in London throughout 2020.

Successful candidates will receive:
– Surgery Scripts (SS) sessions,
– A professional rehearsed reading
– Industry mentoring
– 1 full script SS rehearsal
– Dramaturgy sessions
– 2 hrs a week story development and production advice
– Script notes from some of our SS Directors Pool of over 130 directors
– Industry and networking support
– Online marketing throughout 2020
– Travel & Subsistence (Outside of London),
– Desk/rehearsal space

If you identify as Neurodivergent, live in England and want to tell a story, we want to hear from you. We welcome submissions from anyone regardless of practice or experience.

Please submit a short story idea today via our website. 

You can submit your pitch idea in any format: in writing, a video pitch or an mp3 file.
All we ask for is an outline of your story and why you need to tell it.

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to prepare a treatment, which will be presented in front of the industry panel.

Deadline for submissions has been extended to 3rd May.
