Manchester International Festival (MIF) is looking for new trustees to join our board as we prepare to run The Factory.

MIF brings together artists from different art forms and backgrounds to create dynamic new work, which we stage every two years across Greater Manchester. Our next Festival takes place in July 2021.
We collaborate closely with venues, festivals and cultural organisations worldwide, whose input guarantees our projects have a life after each Festival. And year-round, we work widely within communities through My Festival, a diverse network of creative people forging closer connections with MIF.
Our future home is The Factory, designed by OMA, backed by Manchester City Council and HM Government, and currently under construction. When it opens, The Factory will be home to one of Europe’s most ambitious year-round creative programmes and a major arts-industry training academy.
We are looking to recruit up to 4 new trustees to continue to strengthen and diversify MIF’s board. The board has ultimate responsibility for the strategic direction, development and governance of MIF and The Factory. Applicants must have a passion for arts and culture. We always welcome candidates from a wide representation of backgrounds and age cohorts. In this recruitment cycle we are particularly interested in hearing from those with lived experience of disability, from women and from candidates from BAME backgrounds.
All applicants should have considerable knowledge and widespread experience of working in one of the following areas which have been identified as being of particular relevance to the company’s work at this point in its development:

• International arts leadership – ideally festivals
• Artistic practise
• Audience engagement and community involvement
• International PR and Communications
• Legal
• Large scale Venue Management

These are voluntary positions – travel and expenses to board meetings are refundable. There are four half day board meeting every year with an additional full day board meeting which includes a half day future focused away day session. Additionally, board members would also be a member of one of the board sub-committees / advisory groups, which also meet 4-5 times a year. These include: Commercial, Finance and Audit, HR, and Digital. Board Members are also invited to experience the company’s artistic work and to attend advocacy events.
