JOIN OUR BOARDS

We are recruiting a number of voluntary Non-Executive Director positions to join our Board of Trustees.

Mayflower Theatre is one of the most successful large scale theatres in the UK, recently awarded “Best Company to work for” in the Solent Business awards and presenting the biggest touring shows to over 500,000 customers annually. Our aim is to bring a diverse range of shows to Southampton, and we present a mixture of spectacular touring productions, from musicals – many direct from the West End – to dance, opera, drama, ballet and comedy. We run as an independent theatre and operate as a charitable trust – we don’t receive direct funding from any external bodies, so all the money generated from tickets sales is invested back into the theatre, to support our community and education strategies and ensure the upkeep of our Grade II listed theatre.

MAST Mayflower Studios is the new operating organisation for the previous NST City building and is a sister organisation to Mayflower Theatre. MAST operates as a not for profit organisation and seeks mutually beneficial associations to help raise the profile of its educational and outreach work and to develop the profile of the extensive multi art form programme it offers. MAST aims to be nationally recognised for the quality of its presented and produced performing arts programme and for producing the very best performance experiences by international, national, local artists and companies. MAST recognises the importance and value of forming partnerships with other cultural organisations, with particular emphasis on creative partnerships.

We are particularly keen to recruit Trustees with skills in digital marketing and cyber security for Mayflower Theatre and in community theatre and education and outreach for MAST. However, we are also interested in candidates with a broader range of skills and experience.

Mayflower Theatre and MAST recognize the importance of board diversity and inclusivity in all its forms and in seeking to attract the best talent and expertise is committed to increasing diversity across its Board and wider committee structure. We are keen to hold an open process to invite Trustee applications from the broadest possible pool. We encourage applications from all backgrounds, but in particular we would welcome applications from:

• Women
• Disabled applicants
• People from black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds
• LGBTQ+

As a Trustee you will receive:
• Induction, training and reimbursable expenses
• Opportunities to make strategic decisions
• Opportunities to network with senior professionals
• The chance to influence and shape the organisation’s future

The expected time commitment for Trustees is four Board meetings per year, one Strategy Day and attendance at the AGM. In addition, Trustees are also expected to be involved with the work of the various committees and companies of the Board and Trustees are appointed to those which best suit their skills and experience. Meetings are held in Southampton, generally on Friday afternoons. In total the time commitment is likely to average 1-2 days a month.

If you are interested and would like to apply please email your CV and covering letter outlining how you feel you meet the role description to recruitment@mayflower.org.uk. Deadline for applications is 5pm on 12 March 2021.

Mayflower Theatre and MAST are committed to providing an accessible recruitment process for all candidates, therefore if you have any additional requirements to complete your application please contact the HR Team at recruitment@mayflower.org.uk.
(Large text, dyslexic text documents and telephone applications/interviews are available)
