Shakespeare’s Globe is currently seeking a Head of Visitor & Audience Operations to lead the Visitor and Audience Operations team.
As the Globe emerges from a period of unprecedented closure and change, this role is integral to helping the organisation reopen and recover. We need to welcome and reengage audiences back in the safest way, reacting to changing government guidance and reshaping our offering. This is a very exciting time to join our organisation as we rebuild for the future.
This role oversees all aspects of day-to-day operational management and delivery of public-facing activity within the Visitor & Audience Operations teams. It is key to the effective delivery of outstanding visitor experiences, sharing best practice and putting visitor needs and expectations at the core of all activities whilst driving income.
The successful candidate will work with the Director of Marketing, Communications and Audiences to provide strong leadership and vision for the Visitor & Audience Operations teams as the Globe emerges from this unprecedented time. As part of the Wider Leadership Group, they will also work closely with senior colleagues across the Globe to lead on operational policies, income targets and delivery of the Globe’s strategic objectives.
This role is offered full-time but we are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements. Please note that because of the nature of the role, some evening and weekend hours will be required and this role cannot be exclusively worked from home.
The successful candidate will have shown successful operational leadership at a cultural or arts destination, including managing a front-facing team and volunteers. They will have a commercial and strategic mindset with the ability to seek innovation, champion continuous improvement and maximise diverse income streams. We are looking for someone who will display excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to demonstrate their supportive and collaborative approach to motivating teams and working with colleagues. The right person for this role will be committed to the principles of equality, diversity and anti-racism and able to implement these within all areas of work.
The Visitor & Audience Operations department at Shakespeare’s Globe is responsible for welcoming all of our visitors whatever their reason for visiting, the Front of House theatre experience and the Guided Tour offer and operations. This role is responsible for providing a memorable and enjoyable experience for all visitors, combining operational excellence and efficiency with effective, engaging and consistent delivery of the Globe’s cause.
The Visitor & Audience Operations team have responsibility for public experience and are, for many, the first point of contact with Shakespeare’s Globe. The team aspires to welcome all visitors to our unique spaces; develop their curiosity and enhance their theatrical experience whilst encouraging them to engage with Shakespeare, his contemporaries and modern theatre.
