The Board of Siobhan Davies Studios is looking for an experienced Artistic Director/s to lead the organisation through a period of change and into the future. We welcome applications from individuals or groups and from practicing artists or others with meaningful, long-term engagements with dance and choreography.

New Leadership
This is a dynamic time for Siobhan Davies Studios both artistically and organisationally. In conversation with artists in the dance sector, we have had an opportunity to reflect on current practice and plan a future in which we can meet changing needs. We are proposing a future that makes the most of our resources. We want our building, funds and staff capacity to respond flexibly to the needs of a diverse community of artists pushing the boundaries of dance and choreography. This will involve a shift producing and programming toward a more flexible approach that provides resource in support of artists. This change arises from Siobhan Davies’s desire to hand on leadership of the organisation and ensure a strong future, bringing the wealth of independent dance practice to audiences.

In the current political and economic context of increasing challenge and rapid change, a clear approach is essential. We believe that the resources of choreography are invaluable in navigating this moment, and want leaders with the skills, experience and networks to identify and address the important work being done in the UK dance sector today.

We seek to ambitiously reimagine the way we work by deepening and expanding the role of artists in the leadership of the organisation, providing more agency to the artists that we work with. The Artistic Director/s will bring expertise and enthusiasm to make the most of this exciting moment for our audiences, artists and stakeholders.

We want to hear from creative practitioners, either working alone or in partnership, who are excited to be part of the evolution of our organisation in a rapidly changing environment. The organisation is prepared to work flexibly with practicing artists ensuring they are able to continue making their own work if that is their ambition. We aim to recruit the new artistic leadership in time for them and the Executive Director to prepare the Arts Council England National Portfolio application for the years 2022-2026.
