The Orpheus Centre is an independent specialist College based in Godstone, Surrey. We focus on developing independence skills through performing and visual arts and make dramatic improvements to young disabled adults’ lives. (Car driver preferable due to location).

We are currently seeking a Music Tutor at our SEN College to facilitate a broad range of activities in conjunction with staff, students and the wider community so as to deepen and broaden learners’ experience in the fields of Arts and performance based subjects. Working with the wider team, you will be key in the development of a broad and rich curriculum offer for students that supports the acquisition of skills and knowledge in support of their aspirations and future plans.

21 hours per week (over 3 days) / 44 weeks per year – Hours may be altered on occasions according to the needs of the curriculum and organisation, some evening and off site work will be involved.

Are you an experienced tutor with a passion for supporting students with special educational needs? Do you have a Degree in a related arts performance subject? Have a minimum or 2 years’ experience working with young people in an arts setting including SEN? Proven ability to participate and lead performances to a high standard with enthusiasm and expertise?

As a Music Tutor you will work with curriculum and wider staff to create innovative approaches to education and the arts; deliver and produce the musical aspects of Orpheus performances in the Autumn and Summer terms and contribute to intensive weeks and Outreaches.

Experience working in further education with young adults with learning and/or physical disabilities is desirable.
