We are looking for a writer to adapt Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night for The Watermill Ensemble to create an abridged version for a cast of three.

Our acclaimed A Mini Summer Night’s Dream in 2019 saw A Midsummer Night’s Dream performed by only three actors tour to secondary schools in the region with a run here at The Watermill. We are now looking for a playwright to create an ambitious take on Twelfth Night and deliver a fast paced, lively 75-minute script with an emphasis on storytelling.

The piece will be directed by our Creative Associate Robert Kirby. Fee is £1575. First draft by late April.

Please send a CV along with a short description of how you would approach the challenge of rewriting Twelfth Night by the end of February. In your application, we’re interested in why you think your approach would work for The Watermill Ensemble.

We encourage applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds. We will also work with you to make sure any access needs are met. If you have any questions or to submit your application, please email Eilidh Nurse
