Closing Date: 10 July 2020
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Unfolding Theatre makes big-hearted theatre that delights in bringing people together. Described as “thrillingly talented people” (Guardian), we have built a track record of delivering award-winning, large-scale community projects and public performances.
We are looking for two people to join our board of trustees. We are looking for people who can help us continue to realise our 2018-22 plans and support our ideas and ambitions for 2022-26 and beyond!
What we are looking for?
Our current trustees are Anna Disley (Chair, and Executive Director at New Writing North), Tim Bailey (xsite architecture), Mark Robinson (Thinking Practice), Bex Bowsher (Theatre Maker and Disability Champion) and Kevin Wilson (Sage Gateshead).
We want our board to better reflect the diversity of the communities and artists we work with. This means we especially welcome expressions of interest from people of colour, disabled people and people who are LGBTQ+.
We are especially looking for:
– People with experience in digital & new technologies, public health, law, finance, HR and change management, who can help our work thrive by making more connections across different sectors.
– Artists/writers/makers, to support our artistic development via feedback, advice & ideas.
– People with experience in… something else entirely! If you’ve got experience or ideas that you think could help Unfolding Theatre grow, let us know.
– People who might not have been a trustee before. We want to bring in new
perspectives. We are also keen to offer people the chance to develop their leadership skills through joining our board. So don’t worry if you’ve never been on a board before. We can show you the ropes!
What does the roles involve?
Being a trustee involves attending 5 two-hour meetings per year at our office in Ouseburn, Newcastle upon Tyne (wheelchair accessible, step-free) or via Zoom during lockdown, attending selected performances, offering advice and spreading the word and championing Unfolding Theatre’s work. The roles are unpaid. We can cover travel expenses and access costs.
Email Annie on firstname.lastname@example.org by 10 July 2020. You can send an expression of interest in whichever format suits you best: a short email saying hello, a video message, or an audio file. We’ll then get back in touch so we can have a conversation to find out more about each other.
We look forward to hearing from you!
