If you have experience of applying for Access to Work, Disability Arts Online (DAO) wants to hear from you. DAO is creating a comprehensive and accessible Guide on Access to Work, specifically for the Arts and Cultural sector, funded by Arts Council England.
Access to Work is the Government scheme which addresses the additional costs disabled people and their employers face in making the reasonable adjustments required to create an accessible working environment. It helps to level the playing field for disabled people in work and encourage employers to recruit disabled people at little or no extra cost to their business.
We need your help! We have devised a survey, inclusive of those who are employed, self-employed, or employers. Your answers will help us to identify the key areas, issues and hints that need to be included in the Guide to support artists and organisations applying to Access to Work. The evidence gathered through this survey also aims to support Arts Council England and Disability Arts Online to advocate for improvements to Access to Work.
Trish Wheatley, Chief Executive of Disability Arts Online said:
“Input from individual artists and organisations is absolutely essential in us creating a useful and accessible guide that is fit for our sector, and genuinely helps people to get support through Access to Work. We hope to make real difference with this guide when it’s published later in the year”
All data will be completely anonymised and we will not share personal data or responses that could potentially identify individuals to anyone outside of Disability Arts Online.
We appreciate it takes time to fill in questionnaires, so as a thank you, we’re offering everyone who fills in the survey a chance of winning a £50 voucher for an online store of your choice.
If our survey is not accessible for you, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange sending the Word version or to give feedback over the phone.
