Led by Disability Arts In Surrey (DAISY) in partnership with Disability Arts Online and Surrey Libraries, we collaborated to deliver spoken word readings and workshops at libraries and resource centres across Surrey between October 2017 and May 2018.

Writers/ spoken word performers from Disability Arts Online and Daisy: John O’Donoghue, Colin Hambrook, Wendy Young, Akila Richards, Terry Winchester and Lynne E Blackwood lead writing workshops and delivered poetry readings in each of five libraries and two resource centres across the county. Artists from Art Matters and The Grange Centre created temporary installations within and outside of the libraries.

Our Future Selves followed on from the success of Daisy festival 2016, in which Daisy added a new spoken word element to its programme. The team were impressed with the quality and relevance of work delivered by Disability Arts Online and decided to develop further opportunities, seeking a more public platform for the work of disabled writers.
